Easy day from Ohé en Laak to Beesel

Mellow ride today continuing to follow the Maas.  The cycle route does not stay along the river, but zigs and zags through farmland and villages: what would be a short distance by car added up to 42 km on the bike.

Just a few km after our start we passed another windmill, this one 300 years old.

This section of the Maas has a number of lakes and side canals.  We passed a small scale hydro power plant.

There are many marinas and some water parks.  We stopped at one beach to take a swim.

Shortly before reaching the small village of Beesel we passed another windmill, right by the Maas, this one dating from 1604.  Note the cool airfoil on the leading edges of the blades.

The village does a reenactment of St. George's slaying the dragon here every seven years.  The village is full of dragon signs and sculpture.
